Principal’s Report

Crawford Shield

Since 1959 Melbourne High School and North Sydney Boys’ High School have participated in a sporting and cultural exchange, called the Crawford Shield. The location of the competition alternates between the two cities, giving the students the opportunity to travel as well as host their guests at home. This year it was North Sydney’s turn to host. We had a great time and although it was not our year to bring the trophy home, we were gracious in defeat. Congratulations to the participants who demonstrated great sportsmanship and camaraderie. A sincere thank you to the staff who accompanied the boys and the staff who helped organise the trip.

Family Concert

Wednesday night it was almost a full house in Memorial Hall and as always, our musicians and singers did not disappoint. Families had the opportunity to hear classical music pieces through to contemporary pop, and everything in between. Events like these remind us that our students are more than academically able, they have many other talents including musical talent. These events demonstrate that our mission to develop well-rounded young men is being achieved. Many of our graduates are also exceptionally talented in the performing arts, sport, languages, public speaking, debating and chess.

Thank you to the Director of Music, Mr De Korte and his staff, our administration staff, Friends of Music (parent group) and the many volunteers behind the scenes who contributed to the event’s success.

Cadets – AAC Training Camp and AAFC Summer Bivouac

Thank you to all involved. For our year 9 students this was their first experience and from all reports I received, it was a very successful camp. The senior students often remark on how much the cadet experiences develop their leadership, grit, and communication skills. These are life skills that they carry into their future careers, family life and community service.

Easter break

School resumes on Monday April 15. All the best for the Easter break. Parents/carers please ensure that your children make time to rest and rejuvenate.
