On Monday, August 5th, the stock investment club hosted an insightful and educational investment forum, featuring two distinguished presenters from the finance industry.
Dr Alex Joiner, Chief Economist at IFM Investors is responsible for the firm’s economic, financial market and geopolitical risk analysis. Mr John Illes is a Financial Analyst at Colonial First State, with extensive experience in portfolio management, analytical skills, accounting, asset management, and strategy.
The forum offered valuable lessons on risk management and the significance of time in the market over market timing. Additionally, students gained a deeper understanding of the impact of economic factors on share prices. Prevailing investment themes and how superannuation works were also discussed. Dr. Joiner and Mr. Illes also shared practical advice on forging a successful career in the finance industry.
