The MHS Welcome Day & House Regatta took place on Sat 6th May at the Powerhouse Rowing Club. The club was pleased to welcome a wonderful turnout of over 100 rowers and parents in spite of the rainy morning.
All boys had a chance to row in the regatta in either an eight, a quad or a scull. A huge thank you from all the parents to our wonderful Head Coach Paul McGann and his coaching team.
And a very warm welcome to our new MHS coaches Marty O’Leary and Beth Ross who have joined the team from last month. We are fortunate to have two elite rowing athletes join MHS and we learned on Saturday that Beth Ross is a silver medal Olympic rower.
Thank you to all the parents and friends who attended Welcome Day and baked so many delicious dishes. Following the Welcome Day the fraternity voted in the new committee. The MHS Rowing Parents Community are delighted to welcome:
- Dinesh – President
- Jeff – Vice President
- Bala – Secretary
- Pauline – Treasurer
- Mel – Fundraising Coordinator
- Myroslav – Y9 Coordinator
- Nagae – Y10 Coordinator
- Pauline – Y11 Coordinator
Thank you to outgoing President Adam Eberbach and outgoing Treasurer Shan Dhinakaram for their service to the Fraternity.
Finally, MHS Rowing’s biggest fundraising event – the Captain of Boats Dinner – is happening on 1 September 2023. Please save the date. And if any families can help with donations or prizes for our auction please contact Mel or email mhsrowingfraternity1913@gmail.com.
We are in our 110th year of rowing at Melbourne High – an amazing milestone and testament to the outstanding co-curriculum program at MHS our boys are fortunate to experience.
