Air Force Cadets RAAF Base Visit

Share

Between the 23rd and 25th of February the Air Force Cadets of Melbourne High School’s 415 Squadron travelled to the RAAF Base Point Cook for their Recruit Experience Weekend. This marks the first major activity for the squadron this year and followed one of the largest recruit intakes in the squadron’s history.

Run alongside fellow units 414 Squadron (Melbourne Girl’s College) and 416 Squadron (Moonee Ponds), the 415 Squadron NCO team trained the new cadets in basic concepts of Drill, Service Knowledge, Aerospace and Fieldcraft.

The cadets were able to experience flights over Melbourne in one of the AAFC’s Diamond DA40s, enhancing their engagement towards aerospace and giving them an unforgettable experience.

Congratulations to CDT Vihan Mahadevan on being awarded the Most Promising Recruit Award based on Merit, Performance and display of Competence, Confidence, Connection, Character, Compassion and Contribution

With many other activities to look forward to over the coming months, this Recruit Experience Weekend sets the precedent for an exciting year for the Air Force Cadets of 415 Squadron.

Special thanks to Flight Lieutenant (AAFC) Slocombe and all the staff involved, who went above and beyond to accompany our cadets during the weekend, and help the Year 12 Cadet Executive team plan and execute the activity.
