On Monday 18 March, old boy Dr Mark Ranasinghe, was the invited guest at the senior assembly. He presented the inaugural Mark Ranasinghe Research Scholarships to Y11 students Krishna Mohan and Joshua Lombard. Krishna and Joshua are vested in researching through the VCE subject of Extended Investigation. Krishna is researching the effects of short video based social media on influencing the dietary attitudes of adolescents, and Joshua is researching game-based student response systems and their potential to produce better learning outcomes in Y10.
Dr Ranasinghe, after completing a Bachelor of Medicine and post graduate studies to become a Doctor of Medicine, shared his story and spoke about his latest research in Cardiothoracic Surgery. I would like to thank Dr Ranasinghe for his passion and support of student research at MHS.
