Dear MHS Community,
Thank you for another successful term
As we approach our term break, it is time to say thank you to all of you for your amazing work. To our students, thank you for your dedication to your studies and co-curricular activities, to our staff thank you for the many hours you have put into nurturing and guiding our students, and to our families and alumni, thank you for the generous contributions you have made to support our programs. It is a cumminty effort and I am very grateful for your generosity and kindness.
Over the semester, there have been many highlights. I will share a few here but there is no way I can capture them all. We are a very engaged community and as we say, we are more than just marks and every day there are so many activities that extend beyond the classroom.
Political Interest Group
This year marks the 30th year of the Political Interest Group. The senior students leading the group this year have been incredibly active bringing members of parliament into the school for lunchtime forums or organising excursions such as this week’s visit to Parliament House.
Thank you to local member for Prahran, Rachel Westaway for hosting the visit.

Careers
This year’s MHS and MHSOBA Careers night was well patronised. This annual event provides students with an opportunity to hear from alumni in various industries and professions and also speak to university staff about courses. Thank you to Mr Theodoropoulos and his team for organising the event and the guest speaker Dr Eduardo Oliveira. Dr Oliveira presentation, The Human Edge: Why Your Future Career Needs More Than Just AI was a timely reminder that it more important than ever to focus on human leadership and authenticity and be mindful of how we use the technological tools at our disposal.

La Trobe University Partnership
Thank you to Mr Marotta, Head of Commerce, for taking the lead on a project that will provide our Economics and Business students with an opportunity to work with academics from La Trobe University to explore how AI can be used to support new entrepreneurial ventures. The Entrepreneurship Program has been growing from strength to strength providing a valuable adjunct to our formal curriculum. A sincere thank you to Mr Marotta and his team for their initiative.
Student Achievement-Sailor Harry Schlager
We have many high performing athletes in our community. One of our superstars is Harry Schlager. Harry has had remarkable success this season. His recent achievements include: first place in the Under 16 division of the WASZP World Games in the United Kingdom and first place in the under 21 Victorian WASZP Sprint Championships. Congratulations and all the best for your future races.
