Curriculum & Subjects

A strong curriculum continues to be a key feature of Melbourne High School. Guided by the Victorian Curriculum and the Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE), course outlines are interpreted and implemented to ensure challenging and meaningful learning situations for all our students.

Years 9 & 10

After successful entry into MHS, Year 9 students undertake core subjects in line with the Victorian Curriculum along with a number of electives and co-curricular activities such as music, sport, debating, performing arts and the Australian Army or Air Force Cadets.

The Year 10 curriculum involves core subjects that set up students for VCE along with the selection of two Arts electives and two General electives, each studied for one semester. The Elective Program provides students with depth and breadth across their education, balancing the academic core of the curriculum.

Years 11 & 12 (VCE)

Our VCE program offers an extensive range of subjects with students consistently achieving outstanding ATAR’s in their chosen VCE Programs.
