Principal’s Report

Developing global citizens

This week we have two groups of students overseas. One group is currently in Sri Lanka on a cricket tour. This is a long-term partnership and not only provides an opportunity for the students to expand their sporting skills but also exposes them to the culture and traditions of Sri Lanka.

A second group is with me in Indonesia. My group’s focus is on the arts, language, science and culture. As the photographs show, the past week has been an opportunity to engage with local students and teachers, do some performing and visual arts activities, and explore some innovative sustainability projects being undertaken by a large corporate entity in Indonesia.

Our next leg of the trip will take us to the island of Flores where we will explore some of the world’s most amazing flora and fauna.

Experiences such as these ensure that students expand their knowledge beyond the classroom and develop a more global perspective. I also see students developing greater independence and confidence as they have to manage the demands of travel, washing clothes and negotiating prices at markets. Thank you to all the staff and local guides who continue to make these trips possible.

Congratulations Ms Megan Wilson

Ms Wilson has been appointed Leading Teacher Outdoor Education. Megan has many years of experience in the field and is also highly credentialed for the role. Megan will also oversees the Millgrove Outdoor Education Centre.

End of term

We have reached the end of another term and it is time for all to take time to rest and reflect on the past term’s work. There is always room for improvement, however, rest is vital. Accordingly, it is important for students and staff to ‘recharge their batteries’ over the next two weeks.

School resumes Monday 15 July.

Have a great break. Stay safe.
